Högsta domstolens minister André Mendonça röstade på tisdag (15) för tillbakadragande av minister Alexandre de Moraes från utredningen av kuppförsöket 2022. Mendonça välkomnade delvis ett överklagande som presenterades av försvaret av Filipe Martins, tidigare president för dåvarande president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), som är svarande i ärendet.

So far, Mendonça has been the only one to vote to remove Moraes. Another five ministers have already commented on the request and held Moraes as a relationship in the case. The vote takes place in the court’s virtual plenar and runs until 23:59 on Tuesday.
The investigation of the investigation was another chapter on tension between Mendonça and Moraes. The two played in a collision in September 2023, during the trial against the first defendant for the deceas of January 8. At that time, Mendonça questioned how the Planto Palace was invaded and accused the release of videos from the Ministry of Justice. Moraes reacted hard, defended the action from the federal government and pointed out the omission of the military police in the federal district.
The attempt to remove Moraes occurs in the middle of the trial against the members of the so -called “Abin parallel” and the criminal organization investigated to plan a coup after Bolsonaro’s selected defeat 2022.

Martins is one of the eight defendants who are accused of participating in the action and is responsible for the crime in criminal organization and attempted violent abolition of the democratic rule of law.
