In France, a car with an elderly driver hit a man after he visited the toilet in the Orange-Les-Gres rest area near the A7 highway, La Provence reports. According to the authors, the 77-year-old driver lost control while leaving a parking lot. The victim did not survive.
As stated in the article, on Sunday, April 13, around noon, a 67-year-old man was leaving the restroom to return to his car and was hit by a car. According to the initial results of the investigation conducted by the Orange police, the man, who was also leaving, wanted to leave his parking space, but put the car in forward gear instead of reverse. He then drove onto the sidewalk, hit a pedestrian and stopped a few meters away from him near a tree, the police added.
It is noted that about 10 emergency service personnel tried to resuscitate the victim, but to no avail. The culprit of the accident was taken in shock under escort to the Orange police station, where he was taken into custody.
Earlier, a Scania truck rammed into the cars of traffic police and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, who arrived at the scene of an accident involving a passenger bus and a Gazelle. The incident occurred on the Tyumen-Khanty-Mansiysk highway. The bus, which had 29 passengers, turned around on the road, after which it collided with the Gazelle. The 44-year-old driver of the minibus died, and three passengers of the bus were injured.
