Singer Katy Perry kissed the ground after flying into space on the New Shepard spacecraft and was captured on video by the New York Post. The star spent 11 minutes there with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sanchez. That’s how the billionaire’s future wife celebrated her bachelorette party.
Also on board were film producer Kerrianne Flynn, TV presenter Gayle King, former NASA scientist Aisha Boe and bioastronautical specialist Amanda Nguyev. This is the first all-female crew since Valentina Tereshkova’s flight in 1963.
The happy space travelers were rescued from the capsule after the flight, which was conducted by Blue Origin. Bezos used to own the company. The price of the flight is not disclosed, but it turned out that those interested must make a $150,000 (12 million rubles) deposit to be able to choose the date of the trip and pay for the ticket.
Earlier, a video of the rocket launch with Bezos’s fiancee and her friends into space appeared. New Shepard took off from the Corn Ranch site in Texas. The commercial suborbital flight was the 11th.
Blue Origin completed its 10th passenger flight into space in February, the NS-30 mission. Overall, it was the 30th time New Shepard has flown a passenger capsule on such a journey.
